Fast Track Monday
All classes will read the Aretha Franklin Newsela article w questions
Tuesday and Wednesday
7th grade will review pitch numbering with Mrs. Callahan using white boards
Honor choirs will pitch number Turtle dove and do sectional rehearsals.
Male Chorus will pitch number Tongo and County Down
Thursday and Friday
7th Graders and Harmony will continue solidifying pitch numbering
Students will get a "con do" sheet to assess individual progress on vocabulary
A google assessment will occur next Friday
Girls will begin Mozart's Adagio and Males Laudate
Harmony choir will sing Rise Up and When I sing
Honor choir will continue region music...
Week two 8-20-8-24
Fast Track Monday
All classes will submit names for choir class officers
All classes will do written work.
7th graders will do simple note reading worksheets in both bass and treble clefs
7th graders will also access "I can" statements in order to prepare for the assessment on Thursday and Friday. The assignment will be on NOTE NAMING and definitions on the "I can do" sheets.

Honor 8,9
Student warm up and announcements
Students will start on the C section of Mozart's Adagio. All pitches will be numbered. Students will rehearse separately (alto and soprano) then both sections will join. Last 2 pages are focus.
Students will divide into 3 groups (S1, S2 and Alto) for Elijah rehearsal. After the entire class reviews rhythm patterns paying special attention to the dotted quarter and dotted eighth, they will use practice room computers, teacher office and choir room for sectional rehearsals.
Students will discuss the hypocrisy of the White slave owners who wanted to convert their slaves to Christianity thereby the roots of the African American Spiritual. Students will discuss the slave usage of metaphor shown within the spirituals and how the meaning of the words were understood differently by slaves vs owners.
Wednesday
7th Male and Female, 8,9 regular girls
Both classes will continue learning about pitch numbering and practice writing scales on the whiteboards. Females will begin pitch on Adagio and males on Laudamus Te.
Students will discuss the use of Latin in choral music with an understanding of choral text and its ancient roots.
Language will be covered as well as practice of pronunciation of Latin words.
8,9 regular girls will do the same theory work as the 7th grade, but the performance piece studied will be "Why I sing... students will begin the learning pitch and sight reading within this score.
Thursday
Honor 8,9 and Male
Students will continue previous work on Laudamus, Viva Quince, Elijah and Adagio. Notes will be rehearsed as will pitch understanding
Students will read a Newsela article about Aretha Franklin and her contributions to American music. Students will close read and notate unknown vocabulary.
Students will discuss article and answer questions

All classes will go over procedure and watch welcome back video after a welcome and introduction. Students will discuss individually why they chose choir as an elective and what they expect to accomplish during the year. Questions and Answers

Name tags will be distributed
Students will engage in Mingle game with nametags to help students get to know one another
After Minge game Students will do a cup contest. Students will be in groups by either class, elementary school or randomly
Students will get handout and Mrs. Callahan will go over dates, REMIND, supplies and classroom procedure
Thurs-Fri
Students will use dry erase boards to practice writing music. This practice will help students begin to recognize the music symbols and notes.
Students will sing (for fun) Lion Sleeps tonight. Mrs. Callahan will listen for pitch matching, especially with boys, to assess vocal range
If time students will do the clapping game.
